Immunologic basis underlies several different disease mechanisms including allergies, asthma, and immunodeficiencies. Other organ systems can be affected by multiple disorders that have underlying immunological defect. With the rapidly expanding field of immunodeficiencies and scientific advances in immunological techniques/tests, it is hard to keep up with the progressing knowledge. Without this knowledge, it would be difficult for the physicians to  understand human disease, use improved immunological technologies for diagnostic work up, and offer newer therapies. This video covers Abbas, Chapter 5.

The objective is to expand your knowledge of:

  • Antibody structure
  • Synthesis, Assembly, and Expression of Ig
  • Antibody Binding of Antigens
  • Structure-Function relationships in antibody molecules

Target Audience

Practicing Allergists / Immunologists
Fellows-in-Training

Learning Objectives

Immunology textbooks by Lauren Sompayrac and Abul K. Abbas et al are the textbooks that help learners understand the fundamentals of Immunology. This course work will provide the knowledge about basic concepts of immunology to the learners. With this knowledge learners will  be well equipped to order immunologic work up and treatment of patients with immune defects.
