Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this session, participants should be able to:

  • Educate patients regarding their personal risk associated with food allergen exposure in various scenarios
  • Identify which component tests are best utilized according to clinical history
  • Recognize common dermatologic conditions that have origins or overlap with allergic and immunologic disorders
  • Identify the key predictors of food allergy prevalence and persistence of food allergy from a large population-based study
  • Describe the roles of vitamin D and maternal dietary intervention on food allergy prevention
  • Detail the outcomes associated with cross-desensitization in tree nut oral immunotherapy
  • Discuss how use has evolved (e.g. examples of conditions, uses, formats)
  • Describe practical tips on how to establish a telemedicine program in their office
  • Describe practical tips for how to navigate reimbursement
  • Recognize the importance of healthy schools and healthy students and how allergists can work with local schools to improve the health of their patients
  • Understand the unique challenges of food avoidance in schools, risks for anaphylaxis in school and barriers to appropriate treatment
  • Recognize the role for school-based asthma management programs and the importance of educating parents and the community about asthma management
  • Define basic dermatology terms
  • Recognize skin lesions that look alike
  • Develop an appropriate treatment plan
  • Apply knowledge of the pathophysiology of cough to assist in treatment decisions
  • Order diagnostic testing according to patient-specific factors associated with chronic cough
  • Discuss the risks, benefits and expected outcomes of various treatment options with patients
  • Utilize available biomarkers to assist decision-making regarding biologic therapies for asthma
  • Consider biologic therapies for patients with severe atopic determatitis
  • Incorporate biologic treatment for patients with severe refractory atopic dermatitis.
