Biosimilars are increasingly available across therapeutic areas, yet questions remain regarding their development, approval, interchangeability, and use in clinical practice. This 1-hour webinar will review current evidence on the safety, efficacy, and immunogenicity of biosimilars and discuss practical considerations for prescribing, documentation, and substitution. Participants will also gain strategies for addressing patient concerns and supporting informed decision-making about biosimilar treatment options.

Learning Objectives

After participating in this webinar, participants should be better able to:
•    Increase healthcare providers' knowledge and understanding of biosimilars, including their development, regulatory approval, and differences from reference biologic drugs.
•    Enhance providers' confidence in prescribing biosimilars by presenting current evidence on their safety, efficacy, and immunogenicity.
•    Improve providers' skills in communicating with patients about biosimilars, addressing patient concerns, and supporting informed decision-making regarding biosimilar treatment options.

Method of Participation
This activity will take up to 60 minutes to complete. To receive credit, learners are required to complete the pretest, view the activity, complete the evaluation, and pass the posttest.

Moderator & Faculty: Jared Darveaux, MD
Dr. Jared Darveaux is an Allergy/Immunology specialist. He serves as the Department Chair of Adult Allergy/Immunology and the Medical Director of Pharmacy for Emplify by Gundersen Health System in Onalaska, Wisconsin. Dr. Darveaux earned his medical degree from UNDSMHS in Grand Forks, ND, completed his IM residency at the UNDSMHS, and A/I fellowship at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He currently serves as the Chair of the Biologics and Pharmacology Committee for the ACAAI, is a member of the Abstract Review Committee, and was a previous member of the Asthma Committee. He is a member of the AAAAI Immunotherapy, Allergen Standardization and Allergy Diagnostics Committee.

Faculty: Jeremy Katcher, MD
Dr. Jeremy Katcher made the jump from community clinician to academic clinician in 2023 and is currently Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Allergy/Immunology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO. His clinical interests include chronic cough, rhinitis, nasal polyps, anaphylaxis, and chronic urticaria. In addition, he leads the intralymphatic immunotherapy program at Wash U. He has been active in the ACAAI for the last 15+ years and served on the Board of Regents from 2022 to 2025.
