Therese Jorwic is the past president and recipient of the Distinguished Member award for both the Chicago Area and Illinois Health Information Management Associations. She is past co-chairman and member of the American Health Information Management Association’s (AHIMA) Practice Council on Clinical Terminology and Classification and has served as chairman of AHIMA’s Council on Coding and Classification. She was the first chairman of the AHIMA Society for Clinical Coding and is a recipient of the AHIMA’s Pioneer and Literary Awards. She is a past chairman and member of the Construction Committee for the Certified Coding Associate Examination. Jorwic received the Amoco Silver Circle, Excalibur and Educator of the Year awards for teaching excellence at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
